I, Rahul, have often found myself striving to be a person of my word—someone whose promises carry weight, whose commitments matter. Yet, as a human, I have failed many times. I’ve broken promises, not out of malice but weakness. This failure burdens my heart deeply, especially when I know someone trusted me, believing I would keep my word. I cry out to God, asking Him to help me be faithful in my commitments, just as He is always faithful in His. God’s promises never fail; He keeps His word without exception. Yet, as humans, we often fall short despite our best intentions.
A Story of Broken Promises – The Estate Owner and the Beggar
There was once a wealthy estate owner known for his generosity. One cold winter day, a beggar approached him, shivering in the cold, and asked for a blanket. The estate owner, moved with compassion, promised, “Come back tomorrow, and I will give you a blanket to keep you warm.”
“The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does.”
Psalm 145:13
The next day, the beggar returned, hopeful but freezing. The owner, caught up in his business, forgot his promise. Days passed, and the beggar, unable to bear the cold any longer, died. When the estate owner heard of his death, he was devastated. His failure to keep his word had cost a life.
This story reminds me of the weight of our words. A promise delayed or broken can deeply wound the hearts of those who trust us. I want to be a man where, when people speak of me, they say, “Rahul is a man of his word. If he promises something, we won’t be left waiting forever.”
But the truth is, I am still growing. I fall short. Yet, I take heart because I serve a God who never fails in His promises. His faithfulness gives me strength to keep striving, knowing that through His grace, I can be transformed into a person whose word matters.
Lessons from God’s Faithfulness:
“Let your ‘Yes’ be Yes, and your ‘No,’ No.” – Matthew 5:37
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind.” – Numbers 23:19
“The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24
🙏 Prayer :
Lord, help me, Rahul, become a person of integrity and truth. Strengthen me when I fall short, remind me of the trust others place in me, and help me reflect Your faithfulness in my life. Mold me into someone known for keeping promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
